Waterworks

 Waterworks Restaurant

2014. wood, steel, historical materials. winooski, vt, usa.

When Waterworks opened its iconic restaurant in an historic 1912 New England mill building, it was crucial to design a lighting program that complemented without overshadowing the historic building itself, while efficiently lighting the massive space. We designed these large ring chandeliers to effortlessly blend in with the industrial surroundings. They featured a series of wooden segments, hand-finished and riveted into a large ring, that managed to be both sturdy and delicate in context. These were accompanied by massive custom crane lights over the bar, a clever reworking of existing sconces along the brick exterior walls, and simple sconces along the beams, for a multi-layered and functional illuminated space.
